Visionary and Aristata have enjoyed a long-standing relationship. When Carlin Walsh and I met to first discuss this opportunity, our conversation was centered around community investment and reliability. We talked about our aligned missions and team strengths. We saw potential to build additional fiber in Aristata communities, and opportunities to maximize rural fiber builds through grants. It was exciting.
I have asked my Aristata+Visionary team to spend the next 90 days improving reliability on the network. I hope that our focus on reliability shows our commitment to you as customers.

Visionary started our business in Gillette, Wyoming in 1994 in a basement with five dialup phone lines. We understand rural broadband because the team is from rural towns ourselves. Today, we serve the rural West in Montana, Wyoming and mountainous Colorado. In fact, we just finished a fiber and wireless build in Marble, Colorado last month; last year, we brought fiber through the towns of Walden.
That’s just how serious Visionary is about serving rural communities and we look forward to demonstrating that to you as we get to work improving network reliability you need and deserve.

I believe it’s important to reiterate my sincere apology for the recent Internet outage that affected Aristata’s reliability and service; we are terribly sorry for the inconvenience it caused. During this outage, we learned valuable lessons that have further reinforced our commitment to delivering seamless and reliable services to our customers.
One of the key areas we identified for improvement is our communication strategy during emergencies. While we have worked tirelessly to connect with customers using email, social media, radio, news outlets and even traditional mail, we realized that we lacked a robust way to connect with you during an outage. This realization has prompted us to immediately begin establishing a more effective communication channel to keep you informed promptly and reliably via SMS texts.
To develop a robust SMS system for emergency notifications or service disruptions in the future, we need each customer to login to your customer portal and update your telephone numbers. It’s of utmost importance that your mobile number is identified correctly (for example, your mobile number should not be listed as a landline).
