Fiber Internet is a method of service delivery, which uses fiber-optic cables to provide connectivity. We also provide Fixed Wireless Internet connections and will check your address when you sign up to see which type of service might be available for you.
Fiber-optic cables are made from hundreds of small strands of glass, each about 1/10th the size of a single human hair. Light signals send data through these cables to and from your device, allowing access to the internet using the power of light.
Because the data is sent by light through the strands inside cables, fiber service requires hardlines to run directly to your house. This can limit availability to some locations because the infrastructure must be in place for our team to run a physical line, either aerially on power poles or through buried conduit, to connect your home with fiber Internet service.
Luckily, our team is working hard to expand that infrastructure and bring fiber to more and more homes in our community through efforts such as our recently completed Chalk Creek Fiber project, which brought fiber lines and speeds all the way to St. Elmo!
